At the IWPC workshop Automotive Radar and ADAS Evolution for 2030 and Beyond, Matthias Feulner, Senior Director ADAS, discussed automotive radar today and the future towards distributed radar architectures and their new possibilities like 360-degree sensor fusion, synchronization, AI enhanced perception, as well as richer sensor data streaming and OTA feature updates.
The session concludes with the introduction of the PurpleBox reference design for distributed radar architectures, which allows aggregating and processing four corner radar sensors at once, receiving compressed Range FFT data and producing a high-density surround point cloud.
