The PowerQuad is a dedicated hardware unit that runs in parallel to the main Arm Cortex-M33 core inside select NXP MCUs. By using the PowerQuad to work in parallel to the main CPU, it's possible to implement sophisticated signal processing algorithms while leaving your main CPU(s) available to do other tasks such as communication and IO.

The combination of a Cortex-M CPU and PowerQuad allows designers to leverage a very low-power microcontroller while still providing the processing necessary for motion context, voice recognition, neural network feature extraction, biometrics and other signal processing functions. This faster processing allows the CPU to run at a lower clock speed and at a lower voltage, providing significant reductions in power consumption. In addition, the shorter processing time also allows the MCU to spend more time in low power states, further reducing power consumption.
