Matter Example Network
NXP’s FRDM-MCXW71, FRDM-RW612 and FRDM-IMX93 boards create a complete Matter network including Matter End Devices, Thread Border Router, Matter Controller, Zigbee to Matter bridge, and Zigbee End Devices. This is a powerful setup for developing a complete Smart Home ecosystem and is being used to demonstrate Zigbee to Matter bridging highlighting coexistence across Matter and Zigbee ecosystems.
Autonomous Secure Access Solution
NXP is showing a complete set of user-friendly commissioning methods highlighting Ease of Use including QR Code, NFC and Wi-Fi. The demo includes a Matter Controller based on the FRDM-IMX93 board (with IW612 tri-radio), and a Commissionee (Matter end device), and shows how a commissioner commissions a device using these options. This includes a method using Wi-Fi Public Action Frame (PAF) which is planned to be available in a future Matter release. Wi-Fi PAF provides a mechanism for link layer discovery and direct communication between the Commissioner and the device without a Wi-Fi association between them. The Wi-Fi native commissioning includes support for PAFTP fragmentation, and PAFTP defines fragmentation and reassembly of Matter messages over Unsynchronized Service Discovery (USD) protocol.
Enhanced Multi-Admin with Joint Fabric
Enhanced Multi-admin enables smart home controllers to manage devices across different fabrics, standardizing interactions between different smart home ecosystems. This capability is critical to delivering seamless device integration across ecosystems. NXP has contributed its experts in the implementation of this capability with the Joint Fabric methodology and will be demonstrating how it works.
Energy Intelligent Home
In partnership with geo, this demonstration showcased at CES 2025 uses geo’s SeeZero Matter-certified in-home display and thermostat to orchestrate energy awareness and usage with a focus on high-energy consuming home devices such as HVAC units, EV chargers, water heaters and washing machines. Enabled by NXP’s system-level solutions, the experience simulates various energy events and actions automatically taken upon an event by leveraging technologies like Matter, AI and more from NXP.
