Connecting Cars requires enhanced security. NXP's smart technology ensures that connected cars are uniquely identified and by use of integrated hardware and middleware security solutions they are secured against cyber attacks.
At our booth, we showed the advantages of our Wifi-P technology. By allowing cars to interact with each other in a reliable and secure way when travelling, even at high-speeds (and also if there is no line of sight between the cars), each car can give drivers warnings about potential hazards and help them to avoid accidents, or even automatically respond to changing driving conditions faster than typical human reaction times. Warnings about traffic blockages ahead also allow early re-routing to avoid traffic congestion.
On Tuesday April 8th, Solar Car Stella played a leading role in an NXP press event. The media were invited to the NXP booth to attend a presentation where we explained Car2Car technology and how our chips can help to make driving safer. After the presentation journalists were given the opportunity for a ride in Stella and to experience how innovative and sustainable this family car is.
On the test track at the Hannover Messe, we showed our Road Works demo. The driver of Stella receives an advance warning if he is approaching an area with road constructions and receives continual warnings whilst driving through such areas via signals on the dashboard (a tablet in this trial).
In 2015 this car-to-infrastructure technology will be implemented along the Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems Corridor which runs from Rotterdam to Vienna via Frankfurt.
