The JN517x-XK030 expansion kit contains components that can be used to form a ZigBee node based on the NXP JN5179 wireless microcontroller. The node provides switch, level control and LED functionality. It can participate in a wireless network which may, for example, be created using components of the JN517x-DK005 or JN516x-EK004 kit. It can be introduced into the network via network commissioning or, optionally, via NFC commissioning using the NFC antenna on the supplied carrier board. The node supports the ZigBee 3.0 wireless networking protocol.

Pre-programmed software: The JN5179 module supplied in this kit is pre-programmed as a Dimmer Switch for use in the ZigBee Smart Home Demonstration provided in the JN517x-DK005 Development Kit.

Re-programming: The JN5179 module can be re-programmed via a serial connection from a PC running a JN51xx Flash Programmer utility to download a new application to the Flash memory on the JN5179 device. A suitable utility is the JN51xx Production Flash Programmer (JN-SW-4107).
