PN7160は、非常に幅広いシステムにすぐに統合できるように設計されています。あらゆるNFCフォーラム・モードをサポートし、AndroidとLinux向けのドライバを備え、RTOSアプリケーションおよびOSなしのアプリケーションもサポートしています（PN7160ではEMVCo認証を取得できません。代わりに、PN5180、PN5190、またはPN7220を使用してください）。組込みのNFCファームウェアにより、ホストとやり取りする必要性が減り、コード・サイズも最小化できるため、デザインインがかなり容易になります。PN7160はI²CまたはSPIインターフェースで利用可能で、LPCやKinetis、i.MXなどの広く普及しているMCUと互換性があります。PN7161には、Apple ECPに対応するバージョンが追加されています。
Android 12以降、P2P機能はデフォルトでメイン・パッケージに含まれていません。加えて、この機能はiOSデバイスではサポートされたことがありません。P2Pは徐々に市場から撤退しています。NFCフォーラムでは、CR13以降、リーダーのデバイス・クラスでP2P機能を使用できなくなっており、NXPは定義された機能に大きな変更を加えることを想定していません。そのため、NXPは2024年以降、NFCリーダー製品でのP2P機能のサポートを停止する予定です。P2Pが搭載された既存の製品バージョン（ハードウェアおよび対応ソフトウェア）のサポートは、引き続き提供されます。
